I would like to further explain what I meant in a prior post concerning having a spiritual accident. There is a fellow by the name of Tony Parsons whose style I like, but who offers very little practical advice. He is highly confrontational to the point of seeming extremely egotistical. He may be the real deal as far as his realization, but regardless he is teaching people humility. I'm sure he is receiving some type of financial income for his performances.
He reminds me a little bit of Richard Rose when he was in a humorous mood in an informal setting. Though again I must say I don't know the depth of Tony's realization, but on one hand I lived with Richard Rose and his profundity was quite apparent.
What I wanted to mention was that you have to earnestly try with all your being, even though in the final analysis trying may be seen as simple causality. But as Rose often said, you have to meet the real self halfway. It is much like throwing mud at the ceiling and if you throw enough mud some of it will stick. And in striving for Self-definition there will be times when the mud falls off the ceiling and splats you in the face, and at that point what you do is you pick up that mud and throw it back at the ceiling, metaphorically of course. I am going to include a partial definition of the word ‘accident’ that I found on Wikipedia.
"An accident is specific, identifiable, unexpected, unusual and unintended external action which occurs in a particular time and place, without apparent or deliberate cause but with marked effects. It implies a generally negative probabilistic outcome which may have been avoided or prevented had circumstances leading up to the accident been recognized, and acted upon, prior to its occurrence.”
Assaulting the goal head-on is necessary, if for nothing else to see the futility of doing that. The Wikipedia definition of ‘accident’ speaks of negative out-comes, so we need to establish how important definition is to us. As Mr. Rose often said, you have to make yourself accident prone. What that means is to put yourself into situations where there are other people seeking answers, and perhaps find someone who found the answer, and hang around people that have that common interest. In so doing the lightning strike of Self Realization is more likely to strike within that group of people, I have seen that happen more than once.
