My Dilemma
I still think of myself as an individual. That I am a person who thinks, lives and who will eventually die. Having this individuality sense could very well could be my biggest obstacle to Self Realization. This person who I think I am may be no more than a dream. So how can I separate who I Really am from who I think I am? Going within, finding the I am, killing the ego, presence, at least that’s what the sages say….

Rose said that going within is unique to that person, but he also said that there are guidelines that others who have gone within can suggest. So how do I attempt to go within? I first begin by acknowledging who I am not. I am not my body. I am not my thoughts. I am not the observer. But there is something observing the observer. Who is this something? I try to feel/intuit this something but I cannot. I try to wait for this something to reveal itself, but it does not. What if I find that something? Will there be a something else after that?

Re: My Dilemma

How do you know you are not your body? How do you know you are not your thoughts? And what is this so-called 'observer' you mention, that is also not you? Are these only beliefs you have internalized, things others have told you? Are you creating or projecting these ideas, as opposed to Directly Experiencing them, by going within and merely looking to see what is?

Re: My Dilemma

If you find that next something there will be another thing and that will not be it either. When you stop trying to find things you will find yourself.

Re: My Dilemma

Mike,
I do not know any of this for sure. I feel strongly that it is so, and will continue to go that way, unless something comes up that will convince my otherwise.

Friend,
Sounds like good advise but I'm still a seeker. If I stop trying what should I do?

Re: My Dilemma

I am not suggesting that you stop trying, maybe you need to try harder. You seem to have envisioned all results that are possible. It is impossible to visualize the impossible. It may seem impossible to you to Know your Self and that may be the problem. Trust your ability to become who you are and the next step will be given to you by You.
